Fight: Redefined - SPRING 2010

More of Less, a silly name concocted from a list of opposites, has stuck with us for years now, and we aren’t afraid to admit that that is who we are. In 2006, More of Less recorded a three-song demo CD. The next year, we recorded a six song EP titled, “Some Minor Details” – a title mimicking the likes and dislikes of listeners about, respectfully, of course. This summer, two full years after the release of “Some Minor Details”, a matured, smart, devoted group of teens plucked at their chance for a new attempt to record their expressive music. As the quintet walked into the doors of Hive Studios in Hamilton, each one of them knew this attempt would be a success – a sure shot of recording the songs they pour their hearts out into. We are More of Less, and recording this EP was one of the best experiences of our lives. A memorable, fun, and difficult time it was, but in the end, our long-term hard-work paid off, as we can all safely say how proud we are to release it.

After weeks and weeks of debate, arguments, and creative ideas crumpled up and thrown into the trash can, we came up with two words that define us as a whole: “Fight, Redefined”. I often find myself throwing in the word “fight” into each song, not only because it is a powerful word, but because that is what we do best with our music – we fight to be heard; we fight to let the listeners know we play for the love of music and that we love the music we play. Not one part of us is fake like several other bands nowadays, supposedly “fighting” beside us. The first line of the EP explains it best: “This is who we are; this is what we play”.

The album starts off with a memorable intro, sliding into the heavy guitars and eccentric drums of "This is How We Get Down". "For the Count!" defines our pop-punk roots. In the song, “Show. Me. Up.”, the bridge summarizes the message we live by, and the message we want people to hear: “Fight for what you believe in; Say all the words you want to say; Be yourself, be the person you’ve been born to be; Don’t follow the scene, follow your dreams”. When people understand how we feel about the music we play, I think they will respect us as we respect them. "(7) Days of Summer" soars with a sweeping melody with great help from 'Outlet the Girl'. "Streetfighter" features Dave Wilson, and is heavy, poppy and honest. ".If You Were a Melody (finale)." expresses all of our individual musical tastes, combined. The introduction to “Fight: Redefined” clearly states how amazing this experience really was, and how each one of us will remember it as clear as day, for the rest of our lives…

“So now, I’ve taken my time to write down things that lay in my head; I think I’ve made up my mind when I say it’s been the best of our lives.”

This is how we Fight: Redefined.
