Soul Rebel

Soul Rebel project was born in the Summer of 2002 when some young boys from Mogliano Veneto, near Venezia, decided to play some Bob Marley's songs in a "mojan reggae style".



Soon the group is set: Rosa Brunello at the bass and Federico Ros at the drums joined together into a leading rhythmic duo, Rocco D'Aguanno marks the sound with the typical reggae drops of his guitar, at the keyboards and synths Fabrizio Pittalis give an electro touch to Soul Rebel music. They need the wonderful voices of Celeste Matarese and Giovanni Brunello to perform the perfect Mojan Reggae Style in town.



The guys meet and play at Rocco's house, making in it a full optional improvement room and a melting pot of creativity and friendships.



They create the first songs Mojan Reggae Style and Brown and soon Soul Rebel goes out of Mogliano to play in Triveneto and for some contests.



In November 2003 they record the first demo "Suonare il nostro vizio" ("Playing is our vice") with four songs.



In the following years the Rebels play in pubs, centri sociali and for different manifestations offering their songs talking about love and existentialism but also expressing their opposition to war and injustices.



In 2006 they begin working on the first Soul Rebel eleven tracks album and in the meanwhile they go on playing in and out of town.

In Spring the Rebels compete in a contest in Slovenia where they take the 2nd place and are admitted to the final national contest on Rototom Sunsplash stage.

In Summer Soul Rebel play as special guests of Caparezza at Marcon Festival and confirm their interest in social playing in the jail of Venezia.



Soul Rebel è un progetto musicale nato nell'estate del 2002 durante la quale dei giovanissimi ragazzi appassionati della musica reggae decidono di riproporre alla "mojan reggae style" brani di Marley.

Presto il gruppo è formato: alla sessione ritmica Rosa Brunello al basso e Federico Ros alla batteria, entrambi con esperienze musicali alle spalle, si uniscono in un duo ritmico che trascinerà per anni la vibrazione ribelle del gruppo, alle percussioni Davide Busetto integrerà il sound con le sue leggendarie congas, sarà Rocco D'Aguanno con la sua chitarra ad incidere il tipico drop del reggae nella musica dei Soul Rebel, alle tastiere prima Giulia Malavasi poi Fabrizio Pittalis accompagneranno le voci di Celeste Matarese e Giovanni Brunello.

I ragazzi si trovano a suonare nello scantinato di casa di Rocco trasformandolo col tempo in una attrezzata sale prove, punto di incontro e luogo di creatività musicale. Nascono così le prime canzoni come Mojan Reggae Style e Brown.

Iniziano i primi concerti e presto i Soul Rebel escono da Mogliano suonando nel Triveneto e partecipando ad alcuni contest.

Esce il primo demo "Suonare è il nostro vizio" in cui vengono presentati i primi quattro brani dei Soul Rebel, bisognerà aspettare però il 2006 per vedere finalmente concretizzato in un album di undici pezzi originali Soul Rebel il lavoro degli anni trascorsi insieme .

Oggi i Rebels suonano per i locali proponendo al sempre più vasto pubblico una serie di brani che durante gli anni sono stati creati sui più svariati temi, dall'amore all'esistenzialismo, senza mai dimenticare di esprimere la contrarietà alla guerra e portando avanti quei messaggi di pace che da sempre hanno unito le anime ribelli del gruppo.
