"With only one album under their belt, the future does indeed seem bright for the lads from Amsterdam. Highly recommended."

(Jon Neudorf, Sea of Tranquility. USA 2010).

"The Great Prophecy of a Small Man is likely to set Modest Midget up for a few more nominations and perhaps even an award or two. It's That good"!

“An absolutely fresh album, immediately unforgettable after first play, full of good taste, sophistication and great compositions, a synthesis of complexity with simplicity that make us wish for more music by Modest Midget. Highly recommended!”

(Gustavo Bolasini, Argentina: El Retorno del Gigante 2010).

“Modest Midget have created an excellent album and their unique approach to songwriting is like a breath of fresh air. With only one album under their belt, the future does indeed seem bright for the lads from Amsterdam. Highly recommended.”

".in the hands of a skilled and strong band leader as Lonny Ziblat The Great Prophecy becomes a pleasant and exciting addition to our record collection this spring".

The band Modest Midget seems to produce a sound originating from a cosy and familiar past, but do not be mistaken! The sounds they create may just introduce us a truely fresh future. This is perhaps the reason why they are often faced with a strange conflict.

Pop experts call it Jazz. People from the jazz hook define it as Rock. The Rock people call it theatre music, and connoisseurs of Classical music do not call them. They are surprised though to find Bach, Bizet & Strawinsky sounds popping out from their music. Once pronounced to be the “missing link” between Frank Zappa and Beatles, they seem to be a new essence offering us a musical challenge we were have long been waiting for.

The guys in the band come from different backgrounds and musical roots, one having worked with André Hazes (possibly the most popular artist in Holland), a couple of them have played with Wouter Hamel, and another has toured with Kayak. Their geographical roots seem to be just as rich, including Israel, Argentina, Latvia, Poland, Holland and Portugal.

The music seems to have roots in the Middle East, Ireland, Argentina, America, Klezmer Punck Rock, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Contemporary Classical and what not. Everything in fact… not. Because what you experience in the first place to be Jewish turns out to be a saga of the old Genesis, and what seems to sound like a Jazzy line might just aswell have been a Bach invention.

Impossible to describe as it is, we can only agree on one thing: If you’re looking for some easy beat you can dance to, this one is definitely not for you. If you’re not a spoiled listener and you know that true modesty lies between your ears, then you’re on! Try this one out!

The works here were all composed, written, arranged and produced by L. Ziblat.
