Modern Earl is the real deal. They play southern country rock--the twang of country music, the grit of southern rock, the soulful wailing of the blues, and the fire of bluegrass combined to create a unique sound that leaves audiences hollering for more. Whether playing for thousands of people at a festival or in a hole-in-the-wall dive bar, the four guys in the band have a chemistry and swagger that never fails to energize the place whenever they hit the stage.
Though this American band enjoy giving their own take on traditionals and some cover songs, it's Modern Earl's catchy and hard-driving originals that really set them apart. With lyrics that often take a tongue-in-cheek critical look at American culture, frontman and songwriter Christopher "Earl" Hudson writes about life on the road, relationships, alcohol, religion, and even how to make great fried chicken. The songs have been described as "the drinking man's thinking music."
So far, the band has played in fourteen countries throughout Europe, including the Mirande Country Festival in France, the Silkeborg Country Festival in Denmark, the Bauska Country Music Festival in Latvia, the Cerexehe Festival in Belgium, the Americana International Festival in England, and the Berlin and Hamburg Harley Days in Germany. Along the way they have had the opportunity to play alongside many great artists such as Lonestar, Carlene Carter, Dale Watson and Zucchero to name a few.
2012 is going to be another exciting year for Modern Earl. In addition to cookin' up new music, the band will be touring relentlessly to promote their third CD: Inlaws and Outlaws. If you wanna get a taste of Modern Earl's freewheelin' way of life, then you should also check out their brand new video for the song "Road Trippin'." Be sure to keep an eye on their tour schedule, and do yourself a favor - see them live! Chances are they'll be somewhere near you soon.
