I am perhaps the luckiest guitar in the world, for I'm the favorite axe of Texas guitar-slinger, the one and only Monte Montgomery. I'm often the only guitar used by Monte for entire live shows, many lasting several hours.

I am an Alvarez Yairi model DY62C electro-acoustic guitar, handcrafted in 1987 by famous Japanese luthier Kazuo Yairi. A Monte Montgomery signature series modern clone of me was created by Alvarez in 2004, and that model is MMY1. Monte uses D'Addario EJ16-TB phosphor bronze strings on me. Sometimes after a show of several hours, he'll completely rip them all off of me. The first time he performed the string rip, it was the only way for him to finally end the show. He plays me with a unique combination of fingerpicking and pick style. My signal is fed to the main sound system through a variety of guitar effects. The most common effects used are a Boss CS-2 Compressor/Sustainer and an unmodified Ibanez TS-9 Tubescreamer.



I have songs available to listen to here, all in which I'm the only guitar (other than bass guitars in the live cuts) that you hear. There are no overdubs or additional guitarists to Monte. So here's Wishing Well as we Tear Down The Wall and carry on like A Soldier At His Best. Tomorrow Begins With Today, so continue to spread Love To The People.
