ILYAS of Tanya Morgan

i-EL began his music journey in the public eye as Ilyas, of Tanya Morgan. Tanya Morgan, as a group, have shared the stage and created music with various artists, including Drake, Fabolous, Big Sean, J. Cole and De La Soul, and have toured with Maybach Music artist Wale. In 2009, they received a Grammy nod for "Album of the Year," and were also included in XXL Magazine's freshman class. Moreover, Tanya Morgan has won the MySpace/XM Radio "Show Us What You Got" contest, with over 6000 acts entered.
Their videos "We Be" and "So Damn Down" played frequently and consistently on MTV Jams and Vh1 Soul over a two year span and have garnered a sizeable fanbase, including other artists like Ali Shaheed Muhammad of legendary group A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots' ?uestlove.
The group also appeared as celebrity characters on the video game NBA 2K11 right alonside Drake , Snoop Dogg, and others. i-EL can be found on the game under the name "i-ELALL." As a solo artist, i-EL released a 2009 mixtape entitled The Prelude, which was featured on MySpace Music's front page for several weeks and prevailed on various hip-hop blogs including 2Dopeboyz, Kevin Nottingham and Okayplayer. The mixtape produced a song titled "My Auto Tune Song," which was made into a video that parodied Lil' Wayne, T-Pain and Kanye West, and acquired nearly 100,000 views in it's first week. With the success of the mixtape, i-EL is now ready to drop The Book of Elijah, anticipating the same support and success. Over the years with Tanya Morgan, i-EL began working on several projects that introduced a new sound distant from what fans are used to, but nonetheless, a sound truer to his own character. The Book of Elijah transitions Ilyas into i-EL, officially introducing a new sound cultivated behind the scenes over a diverse sonic landscape representative of the artist he is today.
