“Her voice makes her instantly recognisable” (Record Collector)

Billie Davis’s career started like many of the female singers of her time, at a young age. She entered a local community talent contest, singing a Connie Francis Song, ‘Many Tears Ago’, with Cliff Bennett and The Rebel Rousers as the backing band…She won. She was suggested that she go and work with the legendary Joe Meek, and it’s while working with him that she was spotted by Robert Stigwood and instantly snapped up. This was the start to her exciting career.

Her first appearance was on the comedy record of Mike Sarne, ‘Will I What’. It was her first hit ‘Tell Him’ that sent her up the British charts, Preceding Dusty Springfield’s debut by about seven months. The heavy promotion for ‘Tell Him’ had Billie performing on shows with the likes of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. With her Jet Black hair, Big eye’s and vampy clothes style, Billie was one of the earliest images of the 60’s Brit scene. A muse for the tabloids.

Billie’s career hit a brutal and early stump at the end of 1963. While promoting her follow up single ‘He’s The One’, she was involved in a car accident along with Jet Harris of The Shadows. She broke her Jaw and was unable to work. This threw her from the fast moving race of the music industry of that time.

As time went on Billie recovered and continued to work hard, having success with songs such as ’Angel Of The Morning’ and ’I Want You To Be My Baby’, and touring the globe. Finding success and a mass of admiring fans in many other countries. In Particular Spain, where Billie’s other hit ‘Want you to be my Baby’ was a huge success. Billie has worked a lot in Spain, learning the language and the life style. But she has never neglected her home fans. Constantly working on new projects and performing around the UK. She has toured with the likes of The Searchers and P.J. Proby in the past few years and is also always writing new material, resulting in the recording of a new album called ‘Stormy’ which features all Billie’s own material and guitar playing from the legendary Albert Lee.

Billie has recently seen the release of her back catalogue, from universal, in the form of her Album Tell Him: The Decca Years. This has brought her a refresh of recognition. Currently Billie is continuing to perform around the UK, but also working on various projects including the production of an all ‘Girl’ music show.

Billie is embarking on this new UK tour, reunited with the legendary Jet Harris in thier own show, after successfully appearing as a special guest at a few Jet Harris and The Rapiers shows.
