Katy Miller grew up in Hong Kong with a family that had music running through their very genes, and it was from a very young age that the desire and urge to play drove her to be the talented singer and songwriter that she is today.
She recalls receiving her first guitar on Christmas when she was only 13 years old, and her passion and dedication motivated her to become a self-taught musician in a short matter of time. Katy's guitar became her true companion as she tucked away in her room, far away from the rest of the world but near to her songs.
Katy's songs and guitar have now traveled with her all around the world. She found encouragement and support from her family in Hong Kong and then in worship bands that she led in Belgium. Her music has reached the U.S. in both Hawaii and in the city of Chicago. Katy played in Chicago at the Cornerstone Music Festival's Underground Stage in 2006.
These opportunities opened the door for her to meet other musicians and it wasn't long until she became the lead vocalist in a band back in Europe. At times her dedication was strong enough to put herself in recording studios for 36 hours at a time.
Katy's love of life and heart for creativity is so beautifully illustrated in her music. She desires to deeply relate to her listeners and to express her heart in every song that she sings.
In songs such as "Angel," she draws us to think of times when each of us have run away from things that were pure and so close. She poetically sings, "Why do I run from things that are of you?" "Why do I pull away when we were oh so intimate?"
In "Can You Hear Me?" Katy is truly captivating when she sings, "Can you hear me? I am calling for you." She goes on to sing, "I love to daydream of desire, I love to imagine a smile that will light up my view, thinking of you."
Katy Miller truly has a gift and an ability to capture you and move you deeply. Her angelic voice and flowing guitar immerse you within both her heart and her music.
She sings out to you, "Can you hear me? I am calling for you!"
