Miena Yoo

Miena Yoo immigrated to the United States from South Korea in 1992.



Miena creates music that mixes Korean language phrases and imagery



with English. In 2006, Miena released her 1st CD "At the River Again". Her 2nd CD "A



Little Stone On the Sidewalk " was released in 2008. This latest work reflects her



childhood in Korea, her family members, love, natural themes



like wildlife, trees, water, and her life in America.
Miena Yoo's folk-driven sound carries influences from



American songstresses Tracy Chapman and Lucinda Williams. With a voice that speaks for generations and songwriting that could even make Leonard Cohen blush, San Francisco Bay Area Korean Singer/Songwriter Miena Yoo transforms the listener into an emotional receptacle within a matter of moments of first tuning in to her unique and addictive musical offerings.



In August 2006, Miena was a featured artist in the Spark episode, "Steppin'



Out," on ,KQED Public Television. Her 2nd CD "A Little Stone on the Sidewalk" is selected for Womens Radio's "Best of the 2000's" end-of-the-decade feature.



Since 2006, Miena has been a



featured musician enriching the cultural mix for Bread & Roses, a Nonprofit



Organization, at venues throughout the Bay Area.



Miena misses the beauty of the people and the wonderful landscape of



her little hometown farmland in Korea.
