Mick Drain
Type:
Artist / Band / Musician
Genre:
Acoustic / Folk / Rock
The artiste, Mick Drain, hooked up with songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist, Ged McCafferty, in the winter of 2007. Collectively known as ‘Mick Drain’, the opposing pair of personalities and characters make for a spectacular blend of influences to produce instinctive, melodic, driven yet stirring songs.
Hailing from Glasgow’s East End, both Mick and Ged use the soul of Glasgow’s individuality and humour to share real experiences through a mélange of pop, funk and folk/rock.
Whilst Mick Drain has a voice that has to be heard by everyone that truly love music from the core, it is in his dynamic and energetic on-stage performances that have seen him described as having ‘the attitude of a younger and slightly less solipsistic Mick Jagger, the intensity of Stephen Tyler and the faux scruffiness of Richard Ashcroft’.
Mick’s women-inspired tracks have resulted in commentators describing Mick as ‘Glasgow’s answer to Lou Reed’, whilst Scotland’s own Eddi Reader claimed ‘Mick has one of the finest and grippingly raw voices I’ve experienced.’
Mick cannot be bottled or recorded; he has to be experienced.
Mick Drain released his debut album in Feb 2009, which can be found at iTunes (Worldwide), Amazon (UK only) and Rhapsody (US only).
