Michael Chua

I'm 24 years old in Baton Rouge, La. A recent LSU graduate, I'm now working at Capital One Financial as a Principle Coordinator, but that doesn't mean I can't let loose every now and again and play the music I love to play.



I dare say that I'm a decently good musician so I'm milking it for all it's worth. Hopefully I'll be milking it for a long time coming. I've grown to love the simplicity of an acoustic guitar and simple lyrics. Something about simplicity just screams with power when done right. I've been playing for so long and my influences are widespread. There are just too many to list.



My original music is the gateway to my true self. I write my music as a way to share my story, as clichéd as my story may seem. My songs are about living and learning, about breaking hearts and being heartbroken, about winning and losing. All those, in my opinion, are the foundation of the human condition. I'll be damned if songs about that ever get old. People say that my music sounds a little like Sister Hazel with Matchbox 20 with Howie Day. and I say that's pretty cool. Comparisons or not, I just hope that my lyrics can touch someone somewhere in a special way. There is no better feeling in the world than when someone tells me that one of my songs said everything they were feeling, but they just couldn't find the words.
