Michael Mic Check

Michael Mic Check is enthusiast of hip-hop and life. He is one of the longest operating and performing M.C.’s from the forest city, manhandling microphone’s since the early 90’s and doing shows thru out the Midwest. Mic is a true believer of the “Street corner emcee’ and has hosted several ‘Grillz and Skillz’ an 'Verses with VS' freestyle competitions. Known also for his “lets do it’ attitude, Mic Check has worked with other emcee’s from Rockford and Madison, and considers Milwaukee a kind of home away from home.

His style is a complex amalgam of wordplay, sexual tension and bring that beat back hip-hop. Life shows are the pinnacle of performance art, and Mic Check wastes no opportunity to set forth his verbally gallery. Ranging from a hip-hop text book to a improv comedy night, his shows are more of a shared experience than a Saturday night with soundtrack. With his microphone in one hand , and the cord draped around his neck, he storms the stage with the intent of not only sharing the hip-hop culture, but pressing it forward.



Tha Black Kyrotonian is the only one of his kind born from the core of the planet Krypton. His Krypton name is Ireq-Ill. His father, Roy-Ill was a great street scientist and saw the warning signs that their planet was doomed to destruction. A council heard his discoveries, but dismissed them and forbid Roy-Ill to speak of this to anyone. Realizing that his family was in danger, Roy-Ill started to construct a space ship in the core of planet that would take him,and his unborn son and wife Vera away from Krypton, but it was too late.

Roy-Ill had only constructed a small model of the ship, when disaster struck, Vera decided to stay behind with Roy-Ill to give their only but unborn son a better chance of survival. Vera and Roy-Ill placed their DNA into the ship and directed it to Earth, where it landed and was discovered by Jamal and Kesha Check, near the town of Napperville.

As young Ireq-Ill, called Michael Mic Check by his Earth parents, grew up, he discovered his amazing powers of speedy word play, witty strength, and invulnerability to whack rhymes and eventually flight. It would be in Napperville with the Checks that Michael Mic Check learned many of his lifes lessons of hustling hip hop an street sales that many know him to be like still to this day. After he graduated, he eventually got a job with The Rockford Register Star as a Dock supervisor.

It would be at The Rockford Register Star that Michael Mic Check would first put on the Black Kryptonian costume and save Rockford time and time again from all the garbage M.C.'s in hip hop.
