Q a.k.a. MercLove

Lyricist Carolina Black was born May 4, 1980 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The eldest son of Q.C. and Brenda Walls, Carolina Black's passion for creative arts began to manifest itself in the form of music at an early age. In 1992 Carolina took his first shot at creating hip hop music. Being raised in the golden age of hip hop, during a time when lyrics were crucial, and having a keen ear for music are all important pieces to Carolina's success. It was only in 2004 that the artist began to see music as an viable career choice. Also an accomplished chef, Carolina placed his mic on the back burner to focus on a career in food shortly after the release of his 2005 album "Truth, Trust, and Triumph", an album that indie-rock.com called "the album of the millennium". With a strong local buzz and support, Carolina was prepared to take the game by the horns. While working on his follow up to his first album, his father and uncle passed away in the same year with virtually no lapse in time. These events took the wind out of Black's sails and the almost completed album titled "A Window In Time" was shelved, with a small handful of copies finding their way into the local music scene of his community. Carolina Black released one song officially during that time. "One Day" was a track released in support of the International Day of Peace, a day sanctioned by the United Nations. Carolina became one of the first and few hip hop artists to ever perform at the United Nations in NY. Afterward Carolina would take a couple years away from music to deal with his loses. During this time Carolina would mature as a writer, a person, and an all around performer. A complete artist would emerge. When Carolina came back to music in 2008, everything about the artist that was good, had become great. It was time to give music his undivided attention. Black began working on his latest project early 2010. Slated for a winter release the album, working titled "The Traveler" will be one for the times. Produced by long time friend and producer The Arcitype, due for a release on AR Classic Records, the album promises to cross barriers very seldom crossed in hip hop. Since his return, Black has performed with hip hop icons such as Edo G, Masta Ace, Jeru the Damaja, Jay Electronica, Big Sean, Ayatollah, Akrobatic, and many others.
