While Nashville has long been heralded as the capitol of country, the emergence of certain artists reminds us that we live in a musical world where change is the only constant and Music City is no exception. In this vast community of many great artists, newcomers Merced (mer-SEHD) are embarking on the humbling, yet ambitious, journey of exposing souls to their little corner of the scene.
This group of talented musicians, formed in 2006, is engaging the most jaded of audiences into appreciation with songs sustained by honest lyrics, unforgettable instrumental hooks, and haunting melodies. Their dynamic sound is an alluring musical hybrid of intricacy and easiness in the vein of Switchfoot, Copeland, and Jimmy Eat World.
The band recorded a 5-song debut EP with producer Sean Neff (Chicago, Rascal Flatts, Will Hoge, Mikeschair) and recently devoted time to recording a new EP, produced by up-and-coming talent Frederick Williams and mixed by Ainslie Grosser (Mute Math, Jackson Waters). This year, they are devoting musical efforts to touring and making a bold splash on the live circuit. Keep close watch, as this is to be Merced's time for showing audiences their undying passion for writing original music that yearns to be heard.
