Meow Kapow

MEOW KAPOW is a new project from Jordan Sly. Starting out with a pair of drumsticks in hand Jordan shaped an impressive reputation as the drummer in Sydney’s Hush Honey and more recently with the Delta Riggs.
But Jordan had an insatiable hunger to write and sing his own songs. So, armed this time round with a guitar instead of a drum kit and a collection of new material, Jordan has skipped between the US and Europe, playing venues such as Arlene’s Grocery and Pianos in New York and the Goldmund Festival in Berlin, unleashing the charismatic frontman within. It is such restlessness that pervades the music on MEOW KAPOW’S debut EP, TOP OF THE WORLD. Recalling artists as diverse as Gram Parsons, INXS and Prince, the songs are as inventive as they are accessible. Shifting easily from country-flavoured pop to experimental electronica in the space of a few minutes, MEOW KAPOW has produced something that is in equal parts diverse, ambitious and deliciously irresistible.
MEOW KAPOW toured nationally with Dr Dog (USA), held a series of residencies at the Beach Road Hotel and is a regular at the annual Surry Hills Festival. MEOW KAPOW has created a buzz with arresting live shows sparking interest all over town with supporters and major record labels alike.
MEOW KAPOW’S collaborators include Steve Balbi (Noiseworks) who plays bass and guitar while Naomi Radom (Whitlams / Sleepy Jackson) scored and played violin. The EP was recorded and produced by Steve Balbi (David Bowie / Michael Hutchence) and mixed by Justin Stanley (Beck / The Vines / Jet).
