Melodia is a trans-atlantic musical duo composed of two sisters.
Melodia's sound was established with the twang of electric guitar and the drone of accordion at the core, spun around half-asleep rhythms of xylophone, piano, guitar, banjo and mandolin.
Melodia is a project of compiling musical ideas, with the sisters sending recorded songs to each other on 4-track tapes through the mail when they're apart, and playing until their fingers ache when they're together.
Melodia's music is equally at home in the world of indie pop as in the world of Eastern European street musicians.
They are also a banjo-accordion street duo. They busk in the warmer months, with old-time European tunes, klezmer, and carnivalesque reveries.
