"Avignon", the debut album from singer Melissa Fahn, fuses jazz, pop, R & B, and folk into a unique whole that has been described as "Norah Jones singing with Sting and Steely Dan".

Born into a family of jazz musicians - her father Michael is a drummer, and her oldest brother Mike a trombonist - Melissa has a long and illustrious resumé as an actor, voiceover artist, and session vocalist. While still active as a theatrical performer (she

is an original member of the Broadway musical "Wicked", and a featured vocalist on the Grammy-winning cast album), this recording marks her fullest and most personal statement.

The nine songs on "Avignon" make up a song cycle that takes the listener on a dynamic and intimate journey - at times introspective, dreamy, soulful, exuberant, and exotic, the music tells the story of a woman looking at the tapestry of her life and finding her own voice.

"Avignon" was produced by Melissa's husband Joel Alpers, who plays drums and percussion on the album, and features a stellar cast of musicians, including keyboardist Justin Reinhardt, guitarists Chris Clermont and Jamie Findlay, bassists Derek Frank, Dan Lutz, and Zac Matthews, horn players Lee Thornburg and Mike Todd, vocalist Rob Trow, and family members Mike Fahn and Mary Ann McSweeney on trombone and bass, respectively.
