SHE'S AUSTRALIAN, SHE PLAYS GUITAR, AND SHE SINGS COUNTRY.

But it's not the Australian accent that you notice, charming though it is. It's the way Megan Laurie delivers a song - rich, soulful, and from the heart. Her music is fresh and inviting, as you'd expect from a vivacious young woman, and it has a unique depth and style that are all her own.

Megan Laurie is driven. "I grew up touring Australia, following the country music circuit. While my friends were playing sports and partying, I was at home learning lyrics, charting and writing songs, practising my guitar and honing my vocal skills. Music has always given me an outlet to express my thoughts and emotions," says Megan.

The Australian industry undoubtedly recognizes Megan's promising talent, crowning her three consecutive Champion of Champions titles: Victoria, South Australian and Queensland. Megan is the only person ever to win the trifecta!

In 2004, Megan moved to America to learn the ins and outs of the music business at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, where some of American's most famous country music artists jump-started their careers: Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks, Heath Wright of Richocet, LeAnn Womack, Matt Jenkins, and Australia's own Jedd Hughes, to name a few. "South Plains College gave me the opportunity to study under the guidance of some of the most respected tutors in the music industry."

South Plains College faculty awarded Megan Outstanding Female Songwriter of the Year 03-04 and 04-05, Female Country/Swing Vocalist of the Year 03-04 and 04-05, Female Bluegrass Vocalist of the year 04-05, Female Country/Swing Instrumentalist of the Year 04-05 and Female Entertainer of the Year 04-05. Megan has also been a member of the "Thursday Nite Live" television program aired live each month, giving Megan valuable exposure throughout the Hockley County area. "It is easy to forget that Megan Laurie is just in her twenties. Her musical maturity and positive approach are beyond her years," says Scott Faris, Director of Guitar Studies at South Plains College.

Megan's debut CD was released in 2006. Not only did Megan write 10 of the 12 songs' but she also played some of the guitar tracks and co-produced the album. "I am who I am. I do what I do. I work hard, search for new roads and set the scene for my own individual style.' It looks like Megan Laurie is on the right road.
