ABOUT KOLORS:- From the exotic island of Jamaica emerges the new Reggae Duo, KoloRs. These two rising stars embody the energy and vibrancy that is Jamaica. As their voices fuse into a colorful liquid melody of Reggae ballads, mixed in with club music that flirt with DJ and Rap, it forms the unique tension between delicacy and strength that makes KoloRs a refreshingly new sound. They represent both sides of the woman. Their performances are always saturated with dancing and fashion and there is no doubt about their passion and love for what they do. You can see it in every drop of sweat, every sway of the hip and hear it in every note that these are their true KoloRs. ABOUT MEELA K:- Kamila McDonald, otherwise known as Meela K, from the new vibrant duo KoloRs is a Jamaican vocalist with a unique voice that is both liquid silk and fierce at the same time. Depending on the song, she will either have you unable to sit still or unable to move. With sixteen years of training in Music and Dance she is not merely an artist she is a performer, she is an experience.

Meela K was born and raised in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica into a family of musicians. Both her parents are lead singers of the Reggae Band, Chakula, and as a result Meela K was introduced to music before she even walked the earth. Her mother, ‘Goldilocks’ recalls being pregnant with Meela while performing on stage at Jamaica’s internationally renowned stage show, Reggae Sunsplash. She came into this world ready to be nothing less than a star and grew up with a studio right next to her room that subconsciously pumped music into her head at night. Music is not something she had to seek out or force, it is simply who she has always been. At age six she started playing musical instruments such as the piano, steel pan, drum set, Congo drums and the acoustic guitar and doing Ballet, Folk dance, Modern Dancing and jazz. By age nine she was featured in Chakula’s third album, “Save The World”.

At the age of eighteen Meela was awarded a full scholarship to attend a multi international school in Norway where she studied Norwegian and actually recorded her first song in this foreign language. In fact, while in Norway she performed at The 40th Ski Olympics for the disabled for the Queen of Norway and The Prince of Japan. It is amazing what one girl from a small dot on the map of the world can do with big dreams.

At the end of her two years in Norway her family moved to Tanzania, Africa where she took it upon herself to learn the language Kiswahili, which is by no coincidence the origin of her birth name, Kamila. Kamila in English translates to ‘Perfection’. Kamila is however, the first to say she is far from perfect with her humble presence but what she will admit is that she is obsessed with the journey towards perfection because the very striving for it will make her who she is determined to be.

Meela then received another scholarship to Stanford University in California where she is currently studying Communications and Media Studies with a minor in Modern languages in which she studies French, Spanish and Swahili. She is currently the President of the Caribbean Students Association (CSA) and Founder of Stanford’s first Caribbean Dance group called ‘Catch A Fyah’, in which she is the director and main choreographer. She is also a member of Stanford University’s R&B, Soul and Motown

A capella group. Meela K’s thirst for first hand knowledge of different cultures also took her on a three-month study abroad program to Santiago, Chile from which she recently returned.

Meela K is known affectionately by her close friends as one crazy girl who takes on the world and thinks she is Superwoman, with a Jamaican accent. For Meela K the sky isn’t the limit, nothing is. She doesn’t believe in merely talking when you can sing and dance what you’re feeling and make every experience of life, art. When it’s time to escape from the pressures of Stanford you can find her sitting with her guitar in her pink hoodie with her gold locks performing for no one as if it were the world and writing music that one day will be known by millions of hearts. Her reason for living is so she can sing about it. Her reason for moving is so she can dance. This is only the beginning and once she graduates…you will know. This isn’t a career that she chose; it’s one that chose her.
