The original line up of Boston based hardcore punk band The Epidemic was formed in August of 2001 when Jay (Mortar Blast, Criminal Youth, and Impaled Alive) recruited former band mate Christian (Impaled Alive) and long time friend Bill to form a band heavily influenced by early 80's UK punk. The Epidemic lasted as a three piece with Jay on vocals and guitar, Christian on bass, and Bill on drums, until early 2002 when Tom (Criminal Youth and Suspended Sentence) joined the band on guitar, and Jay stayed on vocals. Throughout this time The Epidemic played numerous shows with many bands including UK Subs, Funeral Dress, Capo Regime, A Global Threat, and Clit 45. In 2003 The Epidemic released a self-titled LP and CD on Welfare Records and Rodent Popsicle Records. In early 2004 Tom left the band and The Epidemic went back to the original three piece line up. In late 2004 the original line up disbanded and after a short hiatus Jay reformed the band with a new line up. This current line up consists of Jay on vocals, Ellie (The Knox) on guitar, Thom (The Struggle) on bass, and Chris (The Sarcastics) on drums. In January of 2008 Frado (ex Unholy Goatfucker) joined the band playing second guitar. This line up is currently playing shows and working on new material.
