Tom Maxwell and Ken Mosher were songwriters and performers with the Squirrel Nut Zippers from 1993 until 1999 when they left. They continued to work on and off until late 2006.

Tom wrote "Hell," "Put a Lid on It," "Plenty More," "Club Limbo," "Meant to Be," "The Kraken," "True Macqaq," "Pallin' with Al," "Twilight," and others. Ken wrote "Danny Diamond," "The Interlocutor," and the music for "Bad Businessman," "Blue Angel," "Flight of the Passing Fancy," and together they wrote "Carolina Christmas," and "Hot Christmas."
