Matt Sage is an inspirational song maker and performer. As his former band-mates soared to stardom with Faithless and Dido, he moved onto a boat on the Oxford Canal and founded the now legendary Catweazle Club, Oxford's performance space for 'music, poetry, song and all manner of acoustic artistry': “Britain’s most intimate performance space” – The TIMES.

He has since founded sister clubs in both London and New York, while the Oxford branch remains a vibrant and creative community hub, attracting not only countless local heroes but also diverse universal talents from Foals’ front to man Yannis to 75 year old beat poet Michael Horowitz and thousands in between.

Through The Catweazle Club, Matt met many of Oxford's finest players, the best of whom he drafted into the nascent Orchestra of Love to help record his wide-screen debut, Strange News From Another Star. This led to some slavish reviews, airplay and support from Gilles Peterson, an invitation from 1 Giant Leap to perform in New York, and at festivals throughout the UK.

In 2004, Matt founded Big Village to present some of the world's finest musicians in beautiful and interesting venues throughout his adopted home county of Oxfordshire. Finishing its 6th series in Summer 08, artists included Hariprasad Chaurasia (India), Nuru Kane (Senegal), Juan Martin (Spain), Sierra Maestra (Cuba) and El Tanbura (Egypt).

Matt Sage has spent the last couple of years establishing Catweazle Clubs in both London and New York, collaborating with 1 Giant Leap alongside the likes of Michael Stipe and kd lang, song writer Paul Herman (Dido, Corinne Bailey Rae), composer Tom Ingleby (Neneh Cherry) and Pooka’s Sharon Lewis, as well as regular shows both solo and with members of the Orchestra of Love, selling out two shows locally at The Pegasus Theatre and The Abbbey Sutton Courtenay, and being invited to perform at WOMAD Gran Canaria.

In June 2010 a half hour documentary on Matt and The Catweazle Club was broadcast on BBC Radio 4. STILL THE MACHINE, the first single from the new album, was chosen as the sound track to a film made by Greenpeace and OXFAM that was broadcast on all the stages at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, and in July Matt was personally invited by nine times Grammy winner Diana Krall to open for her at Kenwood House in London.

His long-awaited second solo LP LET THE MUSIC OUT is released in August 2010.
