"It's A Crime" written by Mateo Monk, performed with Paapa Nyarkoh (of The Original Wailers), and Sol Roots (Home Grown Music Network artist) at The Hamilton in Washington DC. This was a stripped down opening set for Junior Marvin (of Bob Marley and The Wailers) on March 30, 2013.

Mateo Monk is a gifted multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter, adept at many styles of world roots music. With twenty years of performing experience, his live shows are an exciting musical journey around the globe, exploring the rhythms of jazz, bossanova, reggae, hindustani raga, bluegrass, psychedelica, soul, and funk. Performing solo on the guitar, flute, and vocals, Mateo utilizes a "looper" pedal to create fully textured rhythms, adorned with virtuosic melodic musings, all seamlessly woven into the song form in real time. It's a modern spin on the iconic idea of the "one man band", executed by a one-of-a-kind artist with deep emotional sensibility and dazzling instrumental finesse.

Sol Roots is a fierce guitarist and soulful singer who has toured around the world with many roots, funk, and blues legends. Sol Roots is an official Home Grown Music Network band and creates a unique blend of energetic rock, raw blues, reggae, and funk, all delivered with deep soul. Sol and the band have performed at many premier festivals and venues across the east coast US, and has been on bills with Dumpstaphunk, Eric Lindell, Soulive, Robert Randolph, The Wood Brothers, and more. Paying homage to the greats, Sol seeks to push musical boundaries and bring Roots Music to a new generation of listeners.

Paapa Nyarkoh was born in Ghana, West Africa and emigrated to the US in 2002. A self-taught musician whose style combines African rhythms with hardcore authenticity, Jamaican reggae sounds and Calypso and Soca beats from around the Caribbean. Paapa has worked and toured extensively with many major artists including Hugh Mesekela, Glen Washington, Everton Blender, Chico Debarge, and Kenyatta Hill, to name a few. Amongst his album credits are Shasha Marley, Shangoband, Desi-I and most recently The Original Wailers new album ' Justice' where he produces a high-energy pulsating rhythm that 'hits you'. His energetic style brings an arousing energy to the crowd at every show.
