Mary Kouyoumdjian is dedicated to composing music that pushes the boundaries of expectation and musical tradition, illuminating the relationship between film and music. Her works have been premiered by such performers as internationally acclaimed cellist Charles Curtis, flautist John Fonville, violinist János Negyesy, and several members of the New York Philharmonic and MET Orchestra.

Recent films Mary has scored and music edited include CORPSE RUN (Brea Grant of TV’s “Heroes”), A NUMBERS GAME (Steven Bauer of 'Scarface', Hannah Hall of 'Forrest Gump'), Float (Greg Itzin of TV’s “24,” Ken Davitian of 'Borat', Cristine Rose of TV’s “Heroes”), and has music edited MONTANA AMAZON (Haley Joel Osment of The Sixth Sense, Olympia Dukakis of 'Moostruck'). She holds a B.A. in Music Composition from the University of California San Diego and an M.A. in Scoring for Film & Multimedia from New York University

Kouyoumdjian tactfully brings her own voice to film and music collaborations in order to enhance the narrative/psychological aims of the director in a fresh and unique manner. Her music explores the avant-garde and “quirkier” sides of art. She uses a sonic pallet that is progressive and paints the screen with a new and innovative world of sound that ultimately strengthens and complements the artistic vision of the director and film.
