ENGLISH:
Born in 1976, I lived in Bologna and Russi (my hometown) and occasionally in Brazil and Cuba, where I studied with Nene, Alexi Arce "Pututi I", Adel Rodriguez, Giba Conceicao among others. In Italy I've studied with various musicians, including the Berklee masterclass at Umbria Jazz '96. I'm living now @ Favela Chic, near Russi, where I record part of my things.
I've been playing and recording brazilian, world, jazz and pop music, with artists both in Italy and Brazil, some of them Ivete Souza, Jacaré (Il Primo Passo, 2007), Nelson Machado, Patrizia Laquidara (Indirizzo Portoghese, 2003), Rogerio Tavares, Tavares Quintet ('Round, 2008), Elio Camalle, Itapua (Fragmentos, 2004), Yanez Servadei, Zeduardo Martins. I've been teaching drums for about 15 years and now I'm presenting two workshops: From percussions to the drumset in brazilian music and The study and perception of the rhythm.

-Mr ZE': the founder trio formed by Patricia de Assis, Marco Zanotti and Steve Girotti is presenting the album Muito café (Earthlife Music-Del Records, San Francisco), featuring Toninho Horta, Arthur Maia, Ronaldo do Bandolim, Barbara Casini, Rogerio Bottermaio, Giba Conceicao and more)
-CLASSICA ORCHESTRA AFROBEAT: Shrine on you (debut in 2010), an 11 pieces classical chamber orchestra playing the music of Fela Kuti, directed by MZ
-VIENTO DEL SUR (flamenco) with Simona Ruzza, Giulio Cantore and MZ
-IVETE SOUZA 4et with Ivete Souza, Amauri Donevanti, Maurizio Degasperi and MZ
