In the post punk fallout of 1978, four spiky haired teenagers come together in a dark, damp basement on Holloway Road and within a few short months make their debut at The Marquee supporting the UK Subs. During 1979 they support the UK Subs on their Stranglehold tour, appear in the film 'Punk Can Take It' and change their name to Manufactured Romance.

In 1980 they sign to Fresh Records and playing to full houses everywhere, record and release their only single, ‘Time Of My Life’, headline the Fresh Festival at The Music Machine and record two songs, 'You' and 'Long Distance Love' for the compilation album ‘Backstage Pass’ before the relationship with Fresh goes stale.

A year later and the Romance has gone leaving behind a legacy of broken hearted punk rockers and shoe boxes stuffed full of memories stored away in dusty attics with the occasional car boot thrown in for good measure.

SWITCH!

30 years have passed and out of the blue skies of California comes a punk rock legend flying in on a wing and a prayer. 8 hours of rehearsals later; BANG! DWC, BH2, Inn on the Green, Blackpool Rebellion and Camden Underworld. A whirlwind of noise and emotion and new memories to file away before it’s all over as suddenly as it begun. Until next year?

Thanks to everyone who made it such a great summer.

VARIOUS MEMBERS OF THE BAND WILL BE PERFORMING AS 'THE NEW DEFAMERS' AT CAFE DE PARIS IN LEICESTER SQUARE ON FRIDAY 26TH JUNE 2009!!!
