Although Mano Sol officially began ten years ago on January 1, 2000, it was the result of over 20 years of programming, recording and mixing in the bedroom studio of Tony Duenez (Pronounced DWEN yez), in El Paso's notoriously suburban East Side. No style is snubbed (or safe), as various sub genres of electronica are mixed together, along with unusual sampling and sound manipulation techniques, to form the "Mano Sol Sound". Mano Sol has seen some success in the past years, remixing tracks for RCA recording artists 95 South, and having songs featured on MTV: Undressed as well as award winning local films. The first Mano Sol album, "Drop Your Pants Here" was released in 2001 to local acclaim, resulting in appearances on KDBC's News at Noon, and on "The Meat Showcase". Singles from "Drop", as well as other songs from Mano Sol have garnered airplay on the now defunct KXCR 89.5 fm, as well as KPRR Power 102.1 fm. In 2004, Mano Sol's first self-produced music video, entitled "Dub Shack", premiered at EpFilm.org's "The Good, The Bad The Indie" film festival, and was a finalist out of over 1,000 entries in the Mini DV Festival in Hollywood, California. Currently, production is underway on the follow-up album, tentatively titled "Sol or System?" Recently, Mano Sol has shared the stage with Double Agents, Aztec Zodiac, Timonium, Electroshockbox, Vadera, Rootbug, Electrolegs, Tamaras, and DJ Zombo. This past summer, Mano Sol was one of three musical acts (in addition to Sleepercar and Fungi Mungle) to play the 2nd annual Plaza Classic Film Festival in Downtown El Paso.
