MANKILLSMAN

From Montreal Canada, Mankillsman started out in 2003. Profane Existence describes them as "Brutally alarming and calmingly beautiful." For Mankillsman, song writing means details in composition and reaching beyond traditional song structure. This results in a kind of mindfuck where the soundtracks for empowerment and hopelessness collide. Montreal Mirror's Jonathan Cummins reviewed their split as ".a sound that recalls the crustier years of Neurosis mixed with Mastodon's prog inflictions (.) with ambience and clever arrangements, they hit like a nailgun." Australia's Gato Loco calls it ''a lot of things discordant, then really heavy drums that fade into nothing but quiet guitar lulls and spooky effects.'' Montreal's LAKLIKA records released the Mankillsman/Hands Of Death split in March 2007, and a full length CD is taped, mixed and mastered by Harris Newman (Arcade Fire/We Are Wolves/Tricky Woo) at the legendary Hotel to Tango.
