Manitu was born when Marcos 19 (singer), Lukas 21 (bass, guitar) and Lex
Sanchez 24 (guitar/back up vocals), brothers born in Texas and raised in
Colorado, get the opportunity to present their original material to producer
Kiko Cibrian (guitarrist, musical director, composer and producer for Luis
Miguel for ten years) who is immediately impressed with the quality and
musical potential of these young men. It was a matter of months before they
began working in the studio with Kiko and Manuel Ruiz (composers and producers
for Reik's first two CD's, producers for Jesse & Joy, composers and producers
for Shaila Durcal, to mention a few of the people they have worked with).
Manitu started recording demos of various songs which were presented to Sony
Music, who immediately began the preparations to start the production of their
first CD. Manitu is accompanied by their friends on guitar and drums.
The name Manitu originates with the Ute Indians in Colorado, referring to
the god they worshipped; creator of earth and all in it. Growing up in Colorado
and enjoying the originality of the city of Manitou Springs with the beautiful
Pikes Peak for a back drop, it was a natural choice for the name
of the band. Manitou Springs has many a memory as the back yard of Marcos, Lukas,
and Lex with music being the lifeline of the city.
MANITU will present their first CD "Un Mundo Nuevo/A New World" this coming July
with eleven songs on it, produced by KiKo Cibrian and recorded in San Diego,
California. Six songs are co-authored by Marcos, Lukas, Lex, Kiko and Manuel
with "Perdido" being one of them.
"Perdido" is a ballad about the moment a couple reunites after being apart.
The young man still harbors the love he had for her inhis heart and has the
hope that they can re-ignite the relationship again.
MANITU has a simple way of expressing words describing various universal
concepts like love, romance and the opposition that is a part of life. These
original melodies are expertly produced as you will see with their first
single-"Perdido."
