Mallo, aka Jamaile Cason, grew up in Dallas, TX, well known for its soulful musical history. Whether it was R&B, Hip Hop, or Gospel, he was raised in a home filled with music that molded him. However, it was the passion, honesty, and boldness of hip-hop that spoke to his soul. By the age of 7 years old, he had already developed a deep love for hip-hop and it’s power. Being raised by a single mother who believed in him when no one else did, along with the normal ups and downs of life often brought on hard times and struggles. Finding it difficult to deal with and express some of the emotions that came along with that, Mallo turned to music. His music gave him the outlet he needed to channel his emotions, express them through music, and find his calling.
Mallo first started free styling and rap battling at the age of 10 and started writing his lyrics by the time he was 13 years old. The passing of Mallo’s mother in 2006 and his passion and drive to see his music become a success forced him to grind like he had never grinded before. By the time he first stepped foot into a real recording studio, Mallo already had a full album or two worth of songs under his belt. He starting selling his CD’s throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex wherever he could and to whoever would buy them. After a year of selling his music out of his car, setting up his own myspace music page to gain a wider fan base, and even doing shows performing any chance he could allowed him to become something like a local celebrity. His whimsical delivery even gained him the nickname the “prince of punch lines.”
Currently in the process of completing his first album, Mallo is working with some very talented local producers and collaborating with other talented artists. He is sure to connect and touch people with his music. Mallo may be young but his lyrical content shows traces of an old soul. It is music with a message that comes from within. With a lot of today’s hip hop being saturated with sex, drugs, and violence; Mallo’s sound is unique and his music is full of substance and very refreshing to the ear. His straightforward songs of struggle, strife, love, life, loss, and lies leave you pondering and soul searching.But his message of joy and faith can also heal listeners.
Mallo is a true talent on a long career road that stretches out before him. Kicking down doors on his way to the top makes him and his music a force to be reckoned with. His love and belief in god, talent, drive, bold lyrics, and uniqueness will take hip-hop by storm. With his debut CD in the making, Mallo is sure to be the next legend in hip-hop music. We just hope the industry is ready.
