Madeleine

Madeleine is a band that knows dynamics and how to piece together song after beautiful song. From Germany, they are here to show us where the melody went and by the catchiness of their 90¹s-Brit-pop-inspired indie-rock.

From the opening instrumental piece "At First," to the album closer, "How It Goes," there is no filler. At 7 songs, Madeleine selected their best to offer us, and will hopefully be getting back in the studio soon. With a strong gig history already behind them, Madeleine are gearing themselves to up-the-ante and do more touring. This band knows how to work hard and it shows. If only more Brit-poppers were this D.I.Y. minded!! Maybe it's because Madeleine grew up on a steady diet of Strike Anywhere, Gorilla Biscuits and The Get Up Kids. (But don't tell them we told you that!) Enjoy their growth into fine tunesmiths, there will only be more pop where this came from. Oh, and don¹t place them too high on your CD shelf, you¹ll surely be grabbing for this one repeatedly!

Während die Inselbewohner mit New Rave schon wieder ganz woanders sind, haben wir jetzt den guten, 90er-Jahre inspirierten Britpop erreicht. Macht aber nichts. Gut arrangierte, reife Songs mit kleinen, bei mehrmaligem Hören wirklich feinen Melodien."This City Is A Story About People" ist definitiv gemacht mit Blick über Landesgrenzen hinaus. In eine ähnliche Richtung schlagen Madeleine, die auch ziemlich große Popsongs schreiben und diese – soviel vorweg – für umsonst von ihrer Homepage herunterladen lassen. Madeleine kommen aus Bonn und bewegen sich in einem Kosmos, der eher noch von den Go-Betweens oder den Get Up Kids markiert wird, als von einer lokalen Szene. Die kleine Geste also, der zarte Pinselstrich. Der muss richtig gesetzt werden und das ist eine schwierige Sache, die Madeleine aber bravourös beherrschen.
