Greetings, My name is Lukas Vesely. This is my space. I am a working musician and perform professionally as a bassist, keyboardist, and vocalist.
I have been involved in music most of my life. Ever since I could remember there was either Bach or Beatles playing in our house. My brother and I were very fortunate because even though we weren't well off, our parents gave us all they could. They showed us how beautiful music was at a very early age.
It was a dream of mine as a teenager to be a successful musician when I grew up. I studied instruments such as the piano and bass and sang throughout my teens while playing in rock bands and jazz ensembles. At the end of high school, I was fortunate enough to get a full ride to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma.
My first year of college, I had created very high expectations of myself. Already, I had toured Europe and played the Hollywood Bowl as a teenager. I really wanted to make it.
It got to the point where I was practicing several hours a day, sleeping very little, and eating very poorly. Finally at the beginning of my second year at Berklee, my body just broke down. I developed severe tendonitis and thoracic outlet sydrome. I was in so much pain that I could not physically handle playing the bass anymore. I had to stop playing music completely. It took its tole on me psychologically and I became utterly lost in negative thought. Here I was in a music school with desire to make music, express my soul, and I couldn't. I felt completely isolated as I saw all my friends involved in all sorts of musical endeavors. I thought I would never experience that blessing of making music. I had lost all hope. I kept asking god why this had happened to me-why I deserved this-well obviously I did. It was for a reason.
I felt that it was a sign. It made me slow down and rethink the way that I approached not only music but my entire life. I left college to come home to California to see if I could heal myself from all this tension and dis-ease that I had caused myself.
Around this time I had been introduced by a friends mom to the healing art of Reiki. I also started reading about Tai Chi and the whole idea of cultivating universal energy to heal oneself. I found myself taking daily hikes and repeating mantras by Paramahansa Yogananda. I also took up playing flute as a form of therapy. After a year of this process, I started feeling better and my body started healing itself. I had day jobs, but I started playing bass again. I felt like a new man. I was in my mid twenties and ready to get back into the music scene!

In process of learning about Reiki I also learned the attitude of gratitude. I was honestly so grateful for the chance to be able to express myself musically again.
This is basically the whole premise behind the music I have been writing for the last 8 years. -all my intrumental jazz compositions to my more pop oriented material.
The lyrics I write and the harmonies that I compose are devoted to expressing my love and respect for the abundant healing energy of Reiki and other wonderful methods such as Chi Gong and Yoga that helped me overcome some arduous roads.

I know I am only human. Thats why my body broke down in college. Thats why I became mentally unstable and had thoughts of suicide. In todays society I can understand why so many younger people feel utter depression and despair. I have been there for sure!
I know that life presents to us all sorts of obstacles that can make us angry, sad, or vulnerable. But I believe that through patience, diligence, hard work, and love we can overcome these obstacles. We can find the light within our souls.
I believe this music shows some of the roads I traveled.
I also believe this music creates a sense of timelessness where one can be and loose themselves. I hope you can find time to loose yourself for a brief moment as you listen to my songs.
