This letter was originally written on October 19, 2001, and was posted on the homepage of the Luckie Strike website.

By now, many of you have heard several rumours floating around about the breakup of Luckie Strike. This letter is for all of our fans, friends, and family. Yes, we have broken up. By writing this letter, I hope to explain some things to make this a little easier for everyone.

Luckie Strike has been playing music for over five years now. In fact some members have been doing this pretty much non-stop for six years now. The one thing we always kept in our minds and in our hearts was that if it ever wasn't fun, we would stop. The time has come. It has nothing to do with our fans, our live show, or our music. Sometimes in life, you need to turn the page, and move on. The time has come for Luckie Strike to do just that.

This decision did not come easy. Something that you pretty much dedicate your entire life to for years and years can't just stop without putting some serious thought into it. We knew this is what we needed to do. We needed to move on. We are all still friends and still incredibly close and I hope that will never change. I am pretty confident that it will not. I love every member (and former member) of the band with all of my heart and my soul.

At this point of this letter, I would like to state that writing this is the hardest part of it all. To try to explain something that is very hard to explain. I wish I could put icing on the cake for all of you and have this make a lot more sense and make everyone happy, but I don't think that is going to happen. I want to be as honest and straight forward as I possibly can. I just want you all to know that for the members of Luckie Strike, we are happy with our decisions to move on. We all love playing music and will continue to do so. Please, to all of you, continue e-mailing us, continue IMing us, and please keep in touch because over these past 5 years we have made a friend in each and every one of you and we never want to lose that. One of the things that I have found most fascinating about Luckie Strike is how we have made so many friends through this. Communication has been amazing. I thank each and every one of you for being there for us, for being our fans, supporting our band, our music, and most of all for being our friends.
