Here are Los Caparos a ska-reggae-dub playing cosmopolitic band from Tel Aviv, Israel.
Russian immigrants playing alongside native israelis, mixing cultures, styles and languages, living in a crazy time in a crazy place.
The sound is unique!
The energy is irresistible!
The story is true and conquering!
Coming from the immigrants "ghetto", having no lable, manager or agent to back them Los Caparos have gained a large and constantly growing audience only from playing live shows around the country. The album "Rasta Vasily" has been independently released in Israel in august 2007
Los Caparos are a genuine proof of successful mixing of different cultures, languages and musical styles. Starting their musical carrier in 2004 by playing in pubs and clubs, closely associated with the Russian community of Tel-Aviv, the band has quickly found a way into the hearts of the native Israeli audience as well. The combination of the Russian temperament and the Israeli sun has created a fresh, new and unique blend of Ska, Reggae, Dub, Jungle and World Music in Russian, Hebrew and English, and made the music of Los Caparos truly international.
The band's staff is also multicultural, as it includes both native Israeli and Russian speaking musicians. Some of Los Caparos members are well known in the Israeli music scene and take part in different musical projects, such as The Apples, Avi Leibovich Orchestra and Reggaestan to name a few. MC Goga is one of the leading figures of the Israeli drum'n'bass scene. Los Caparos actively perform in Israel, gaining an increasing interest of the audience and the mass media.Together with most famous local artists Los Caparos participates in many musical projects such as tribute concerts to legendary Israeli musicians. The band has taken part in a number of festivals, among them "Reggae in the Desert - 3", "Front Stage", "Reggae Love", Tel Aviv Music Festival 2009, "Festival Be-Shekel 2007", "VDOH 2005" in Moscow and "Ir-HaBira 2005/06", "Ha-Tamar" and "From Russia with Love 2008" - largest music event in Israel wich brings together more then 200.000 people from all over the country. In the summer of 2010, the band went on tour to France, visiting 4 cities and taking part in the celebration of "Fete de la musique" in Paris.
During 2006-2007 Los Caparos have recorded their debut album "Rasta Vasily" co-produced with Beno Hendler - an independent Israeli music maker, which has worked with Berry Saharof, Tomer Yosef, Adam Ben-Lavi (Fishi the Big), Balkan Beat Box and others. Many of the tracks feature guest appearances by some wonderful musicians - Uri Kinrot and Yuval "Tubi" Zolotov from "Boom Pam", Yaron Ouzanna from "The Apples", Alon Sage from "Hardal", Sangit Dotan Segal from "Kuluma", Amir Pinto, Shaul Eshet and Roi Harazi. Recording and mixing were made by Adir "Doctor" Dadya, some tracks mixed by Guy Mar ("Ha-Dag Nahash").
In 2008, the band recorded a cover version of "Nachon LeHayom" by Zohar Argov. The single was released in biggest Israeli music compilation "Avoda Ivrit 2008" and was added to the second edition of "Rasta Vasily" which came out the same year.
Today the band is working on material for the second album and is planning further European conquests in the coming year. Of course you are always welcome to come to our show, to skank the night away, to drink a beer or maybe an arak and grab yourself a CD or T-shirt along the way. See you there! :)
