As you can probably tell we havent been around this winter for a few reasons. Des has been traveling around europe making new friends, seeing some old ones and generally having a wicked time by the sounds of it.
Also, Tim has moved from brighton to further his education on a boat buliding course and to go live on a good friends farm in his shiny new van!
Aside from all this we have been writing some new songs individualy & are now going to start the process of turning them into banging, footstomping tunes for you all to get your skank on this summer.
As of yet there isnt much confirmed for the summer but you can expect to see us in the usual places.
We have you all to thank for last years fun and games, it must have been the best summer yet with some awesome gigs including Boomtown, Glastonbury, Endorset and a wicked tour in Ireland which was cut short thanks to a unplanned stop in wales for a few days!
As for the future, we aint going to lie, there shall be more fun and frolics in the sun and we hope to see you all there. Keep your eyes peeled for gigs coming up and we shall keep you informed of everything we do from now on until then keep it sleazy!
A brief history.
Since their formation in late 2002, Los Albertos have been creating a frenzy upon the dance floors and grassy fields of Europe with their inimitable foot-stompin’, brass-blarin’, and rip snortin’ high energy blend of ska, punk, funk, dub and original beats. Drawing upon a peculiarly twisted English humour (where The Comic Strip meets League of Gentlemen) this six-piece throw in some dynamite horn, guitar and drum action and invariably you end up with a band firing on all cylinders and on top of their game. It’s dance music, Jim, but not as we know it…
Their first album, Los Bop, contained such classics as Cheeky Rascal, Bossman, Mr Chip and Pikey Killed My Goldfish. In 2006 they released a new 12-track album Information Overload, with killer tunes such as Friends, Heal, Leavin’ the Band, Scientist, Resist and Beer Panic. Direct comparisons are impossible but listen closely and you can hear the ghosts of Lee Perry hanging out with Joe Strummer whilst Count Basie drops by with Carlos Santana and chews the fat about Ian Dury and all the Madness in the air! – a riotous flurry of horn-driven ska, drum and bass, and swing, capped off by a cheeky persona, naughty lyrics, but with a thoroughly contemporary feel. And it’s the sheer energy and fun that binds all this into what is the Los Albertos sound.
Lyrically, they cast a net far and wide, singing about the joys of going to festivals, drinking beer, psychedelic experiences at dental surgeries, celebrating life, calling in sick, information overload, stupid governments, nice men from next door and, of course, love… Five of the band sing, they all write songs, and they all inject a crazy energy into the music which is just bloody good fun.
Already they have gained a big and loyal following with gigs at many of the best festivals in the United Kingdom and Europe including Glastonbury, Beautiful Days, Shambhala, Larmer Tree, Spraoi and Lovebox Weekender. And their residency at Brighton’s Joogleberry is the stuff of legend.
2007 was another busy year for this hard working band, playing over 130 gigs including a four week trip in Italy, a residency at the infamous Late’n’Live at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh, a couple of UK tours, and headline shows at the Brighton Fringe Festival, Bath Fringe Festival, Lost vagueness and Secret Garden Festival.
2008 will see them do the same plus release a new album, and continue their onward march into Europe with the simple aim of spreading their big, bouncy and happy vibes….

Hungry for a party? Look no further than the scrumptious Los Albertos, a six-piece ska sensation who will more than satisfy your appetite with foot-stomping, feel-good sounds; think Madness, the Clash and Santana. Two saxophones, a trumpet, guitar, drums, bass, cheeky lyrics and more energy than an Olympic sprint team kept the jam-packed Spiegeltent crowd dancing. Sprightly beat-tastic songs, sung by the entire band, told hilarious tales of festival fields, drunken adventures and affairs of the heart; Los Albertos have a wicked sense of fun and can be very tongue-in-cheek. Perfectly suited to the quirky venue, this was a superb show by a local band that effortlessly represent this city's bohemian vibe; why the sizzling hot Los Albertos are currently so in demand was crystal clear.

If you like ska, you’ll love Los Albertos. If you don’t like ska, you’ll still love Los Albertos. You’ll gasp at the intricacy of their threepiece brass harmonies, as they burst through tight-clenched rhythms and soar off far into the jazz stratosphere. You’ll smile wildly as you watch the spectacle of this six-piece group casually bobbing up and down while somehow blasting out incredibly accomplished, but overwhelmingly upbeat, music. My only regret is having nothing to add to the Los Albertos debate: everyone says they’re fabulous. I concur.

Part nice men from next door, part cheeky rascals, all fun, Los Albertos lit the festival fuse with a Spiegeltent-packing, foot-stomping, rip snorter… playing ska-based dance music of the highest order – the guitarist ranges from chicken scratch to Carlos Santana, saxs’ and horn go from wall of brass via horn stabs to klezma reediness, the bass is fat and solid, and the drummer is just superb. The lyrics are tight, contemporary and a bit naughty – perfect!

"The word “line-up” when referring to musicians in a band was never quite so apt as when describing the feel-good, energising spectacle that is Los Albertos.
The entire band, comprising tenor sax, alto sax, trumpet, guitar, bass & drums took centre stage; a literal line-up of performers, creating a musical grin across the face of the Spiegeltent!
Whilst the dance floor was heaving from about the 3rd song onward, the music seemed also to reach into the far recesses of the venue, causing heads to nod as far as the eye could see.
Los Albertos’ set includes songs about a trip to the Dentist, the nice man Nick who lives next door and falling in Love in Brighton as well as a little ditty sung by the Trumpeter in which he boldly declares “I wanna leave the band!”
All this blatant silliness is backed up by the band’s obvious musical talent evident in their fantastic four-part sung harmonies, tight-as-you-like changes and instrument swapping.
The only girl in the band and one of the sax players, as well as singing and playing her horn with sass and panache confidently wields a melodica in a number of tunes, adding another dimension to the band’s sound.
