INTERVIEW WITH VMU MAGAZINE!

VMU: Hey guy how are you?

LW: I'm cool. Just holding on like a hubcap in the fast lane!

VMU: Where are you from and who are you working with?

LW: I was born and raised in Lawton, OK. Currently I'm and independent artist so I'm covering all the expenses and doing all the hustling & grinding myself, with the help of my sister Karen!

VMU: How many releases have you put out and who produced?

LW: The album that I'm promoting now, "Brand New Nasty Vol.1", is my debut album. Producers that I worked with on it are Scott Roberts who is with Voodoo Nation, Dr. Stank, MONOTONE from Sacramento provided two bangers for me, and SinisterXL from the E.A.R.T.H. Crew (everything around revolves through hip hop) did Puff Puff Pass The Mic and Seasoning the Fire!

VMU: Were the recordings done digital or analog? (if comps what programs)

LW: Everything digital.

VMU: How did you get started into music?

LW: I've been rhyming since I was around 12, 13 years old. After I graduated from college, I decided it was time to push ahead and start putting my albums out.

VMU: Do you prefer live or studio recording?

LW: I prefer to be live on stage.

VMU: How's the local music scene in your home town?

LW: Man, in my home town the local music scene is real Hip Hop! Real mc's and real dj's! It's a great place to put your music out because the people aren't caught up in the glamour and glitz! They just want to hear hear good music not commercial assembly line produced radio one hit wonders!

VMU: What do you express in your lyrics?

LW: In my lyrics I express creativity and feeling. I put a lot of thinking behind my writing and I take it seriously. I always make sure my rhymes have meaning.

VMU: How do you feel about other artists expressing their beliefs in music? (Religious or political)

LW: To me, as long as you're trying to be creative and show some type of rhyming skill in your writing, it doesn't matter what you talk about.

VMU: How do you feel about the messages in today's rap/hip hop artists?

LW: I feel the message is bullshit! There's only a few hip hop cats rhyming about anything worth letting my kids listen to!

VMU: Could you explain in detail the gear you use?

LW: The only gear I use is a Five Star notebook, my black pen - I call it my fire starter!, and two blunts to help me with my mood swings!

VMU: Who are your musical influences?

LW: My influences in Hop Hop as far as my rhyming goes are Rakim, KRS One, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, LL, Ice. T, Run DMC, EPMD, Jungle Brothers, and Kool G. Rap! I'm a big fan of all the Hip Hop forefathers.

VMU: Any tours in the works?

LW: Currently I'm doings shows in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and possibly Atlanta, GA

VMU: How do you feel about the mainstream music scene? (USA and overseas)

LW: The main stream music scene is full of wanna be mc's such as Nick Cannon, 50 Cent, Chingy, and all these other actors portraying the role of rappers! BowWow Too! I don't let my kids listen to any of that nonsense! I let them listen to Common Sense!

"I do it because this is how my spirit is moving me!" - Lord Wrecka

VMU: Any deals in the works?

LW: I'm talking to a few labels right now, but I'm not just settling for any raw deal. I see David Banner and other cats getting five album deals for 15 and 20 mill tickets, so naturally they need to come to me talking about 35 to 40 mill tickets! If not, I'll be content with selling 100 to 200 thousand cd's and making $7 to $10 a pop!

VMU: New recordings in the works?

LW: I just started recording the follow up to Brand Nasty Vol. 1, and it's going to be called Hip Hop - Back By Popular Demand! Because I feel that people really want to hear some original sounding music, which is how Hip Hop started in the first place. Plus, I'm getting such a great response from my debut album, I can't wait to let people hear the next one!

VMU: Any advice to other artists?

LW: I would tell them to do what they feel and listen to yourself first! Like a wise man once said, 'If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything'

VMU: Do you own a home studio? (What gear)

LW: No sir.

VMU: Why do you do what you do in music?

LW: I do it because this is how my spirit is moving me!

VMU: Thank you so much for your time!! Any last words?

LW: Yea, Brand New Nasty Vol.1 available now! go to www.UNDERGROUNDHIPHOP.COM, look under 'WRECKA' and you'll find all the ordering info!
