Lo Còr de La Plana (prononcez "lou couar dé la plane") est un choeur de Marseille, du quartier de la Plaine. Six chanteurs trépidants, accompagnés de percussions (bendirs et tamburello) et de battements de pieds et de mains.
Fondée en 2001, la formation s'est adonnée à la re-création systématique du patrimoine populaire occitan, chantant dans une fièvre inégalée tous les répertoires, du plus religieux au plus débridé, du plus répétitif au plus occasionnel, et tout ça, bien souvent, en même temps! Avec cette volonté nouvelle et définitive d'en finir avec le chant traditionnel, d'en découdre avec la musique vocale et la polyphonie, quitte à réveiller ceux qui rêvaient de voir mourir ces dernières dans leurs chapelles. De fait, nos chanteurs vont partout, dans les églises, les usines, les bars ou les théâtres, n'hésitant pas à mêler au paganisme déroutant du vieux fonds occitan les préoccupations des musiciens marseillais d'aujourd'hui. Ils ne renient alors aucune influence, de Bartok au Massilia Sound System, aucune provenance, d'Oran au Rove, n'ayant pour unique prétention que de faire détonner, résonner et déraisonner dans leur musique tout ce que leur ville et le monde alentour leur donne à entendre. Une sirène de police, un nouveau-né, les restes d'un paradis ou d'un fantasme de paradis, une fête trop arrosée, des moutons, des loups, bref, la fureur paisible et enivrante du quotidien!
Lo Còr de la Plana (pronounce "loo quar dey la plan") is a Marseilles' choir from the quarter "La Plaine", six hectic singers, accompanied by percussions (bendirs and tamburello), handclapping and foot-stomping.Founded in 2001, the group devoted itself to the systematic re-creation of the popular Occitan patrimony. Their feverish singing ranges all the repertoires, religious or unbridled, repetitive or occasional, all of which, very often, at the same time! With this new and final will to be done with traditional singing, to cross swords with vocal music and polyphony, even if it entails waking up those who had been dreaming of watching the latter die in their coteries. In actual fact, these singers go everywhere, in churches, factories, bars or theatres, and do not hesitate to mix the baffling paganism of the ancient Occitan heritage with the concerns of Marseilles' musicians of today. Then, they deny no influence, from Bartok to the Massilia Sound System, no origin, from Oran to Le Rove, their only claim being to make detonate, reverberate and rave into their music all that their city and the surrounding world give them to hear. A police siren, a new-born child, the remnants of a paradise or of the fantasy of a paradise, a party with too much booze, sheep, wolves, and, to make a long story short, the peaceful and intoxicating fury of everyday life!
