SOULCIETY Mission Statement

Soulciety is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in the Bay Area, California,
that focuses on uplifting the spirit of individuals and society as a whole. Our goal
is to enrich and empower the lives of youth, young adults, and other members of
society and to promote physical, mental, and emotional growth and wellbeing. We do this by helping them to develop the creativity and leadership that's inside. We provide health, educational, and
arts programs to youth in our local and global community so that they can be
engaged in positive activities. We incorporate creativity with service so that our
youth are given innovative ways to give back to their community while learning
important life lessons such as service, responsibility, and compassion. We hope
that this will guide them towards a healthy and progressive lifestyle, and will help
to deter them from negative behaviors.

Why We Do What We Do
Our youth are the foundation of our tomorrow. Yet, as a society, we have failed
to provide them the solid ground from which to stand. School programs are being
cut, the number of teachers are being reduced, more single-parent homes are in
existence, and positive afterschool activities are scarce. They are experiencing a
lack of guidance from home, school and our society. Thus, their inquisitive and
active minds are filling this void with promiscuity, substance abuse, crime,
violence, and thoughts of suicide, as well as other negative behaviors.

In the desert, sometimes you eat the sand because you're so thirsty for water.

We strongly believe that all kids are inherently good, and that the lack of
guidance can often lead them to behaviors that may not be as positive.
The programs that we offer youth and young adults help to increase self-worth
and self-esteem, and help to develop talents, values and skills they need to
become productive and happy adults. This minimizes the risk for negative
behaviors and thoughts. We share with them the guidance, resources, and skills
to help them foster their own creativity. And we guide them towards brightening
their own light through passion and self-expression.

- It was so fun working with these peeps, not because of J7 being my hommie and all, but because Soulciety, as a collective, made this happen for a great cause. The thing that is so great about this project is that it goes way beyond hip hop, beats, and rhymes...and not to forget all the dancers ;) but it goes to a cause to help people globally.
