Lisa Christian EPK - Video

DESCRIPTION:
Lisa Christian has spent the past decade plying her clever songs, lush vocal skills, phenomenal guitar talent, and witty stage repartee as a full-time nightclub musician throughout the southeastern United States.

Her music is influenced by the soul she grew up listening to in Philadelphia, home of music legends Gamble and Huff, Teddy Pendergrass, Hall and Oates, and Todd Rundgren. Lisa picked up her first guitar at age 11 and was fronting a garage band by the time she was 12 years old.

She spent her teen years sneaking into local bars to play, and by her early 20s she was working at clubs in downtown Philly and the Jersey shore, honing her unique soulful sound and unusual guitar style. In 1995, she moved to Atlanta, where she teamed with singer/songwriter Lisa Durand in the duo Christian/Durand (the name Lisa Lisa was already in use). Their innovative songwriting and harmonious vocal blend was a hit in Atlanta, and they performed at the 1996 Summer Olympics and the Lillith Fair, in addtion to a full schedule of nightclub dates.

Christian/Durand recorded an album at EMI Nashville, then worked with producer Jimmy Johnson in legendary Muscle Shoals, AL. The duo toured extensively, opening for Bonnie Raitt, Sarah McLachlan, Queen Latifah, Tony Joe White, America, Marty Stuart and others.

Now a successful solo artist based on the Gulf Coast, Lisa is the classic decade-long overnight success story. In a time where so much music is artificially produced, she is a throwback to a long-gone era of singers and musicians who got on stage and worked and sweated over every note, every night, without the crutch of backing tracks or pitch- correction devices. It's just Lisa Christian, in total control of her voice and instrument.
