Born Melvin E. Goodwin August 14, 1981 to Ray Jean Goodwin and Micheal L. White in D.C. , In 1987 My mother moved me and my brother and sister to wilmington nc. Music was always apart of my family. My great great grandfather was a blues singer and my grandmother sung gospel music around as a kid growing up. I first got into music in the church. I played the drums and a couple other instruments, sung in the choir and thats where i learned that i loved music and in just came to me second nature. I wrote my first rhyme when i was twelve. I started to write everyday once i realized how easy it was and then i just started getting better. Life was tough for my family around this time and by the time i was 14 i dropped out of school to sell drugs and started getting in a lot of trouble. A local studio opened on the southside and i started going there to record. This is where my buzz started growing and a lot of people wanted to battle me. I killed them all. I learned a lot being in the studio and after releasing a couple mixtapes, featuring on a couple compilation cds and featuring and hosting on all the local dj mixtapes, i had a big buzz in wilmington and surrounding areas. It was hard to get the radio stations to really listen to local artists at this time, and without knowing what to do next ( I was only 17 and 18 yrs old around this time ) i made a couple bad decisions which landed me in prison for 6 years. This time allowed me to grow as a person, master my craft and really read up on the industry so that i could understand the industry. While incarcerated I started Str8 Like Dat Entertainment with my man John aka J-avi, and Ty Boogie. With the work of those two and the help of Bigg B and coast 97.3, upon my release my buzz was bigger than anyones in my region and now i am ready to put my stamp on the game!!!
