Lilan

Sassy Lilan Kane (LEE-lawn) is a soul singer from the Bay Area. She has performed at several legendary venues like The Whisky A GoGo, Kingston Mines Blues Club, Yoshi's SF, The Central Saloon, Lou's Pier 47, and many others. She knows how to bring the energy and work the crowd guaranteeing a good time.
Her love for singing was evident at an early age. She sang in her church choir as well as several school choirs. She spent four years in award winning teen a capella group 'Til Dawn under the direction of Austin Willacy.
In 2003, Lilan moved to Boston to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She graduated with a degree in Music Business and Management. She studied vocals with Grammy award winning singer/arranger Donna McElroy. She was the lead signer for the James Brown Ensemble for three semesters and Jimi Hendrix Ensemble for two under the instruction of drummer/arranger Kenwood Dennard (Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius).
Upon graduating, Lilan moved to NYC for internships at Atlantic Records and Jazz At Lincoln Center, learning the ropes of the recording and live music industries. She was a lead vocalist for New Orleans style band The Funky Fritters as well as performing as a solo artist.
In 2008, Lilan returned to the Bay Area and joined the blues/soul band Whiskey Hill. They toured the West Coast in 2009 before Lilan formed the Lilan Kane Blues Band. She also performs jazz and r&b with various combos in the Bay Area. Recently, she was a featured performer at the San Jose Soul Music Festival and the California Music Industry Summit.
