Ian Hayes' musical tastes were forged at a young age with grunge,
punk rock, and early electronica and hip hop. He went from electric
bass to DJing at the age of 17, and felt that he had truly found his
musical calling. Beginning to experiment with production soon after,
he was inspired by the darker electronic sounds of acid techno, hard
trance, trip hop, industrial, and especially drum'n'bass. He applies
the early love of the dark sounds with attempts to create futuristic
atmospheres and "journey" type story telling in the DJ set. Recently
graduating from Appalachian State University for Audio production with
a double bass concentration, he formed a connection with Nu-Soul magazine
and moved from North Carolina to Los Angeles, CA in an attempt to
pursue his love of music and production. Affiliated with label Black
Reign LTD as well as the 315 and BrokenHalo crews, and partially
responsible for the Reborn series in Boone, North Carolina, as well as
opening for numerous top billed electronic artists,he is always
in search of new connections and outlets for his music and DJing.
Putting effort into every set is something that prides LightsOut in
his technique, and fuels his hopes to expose as many as possible to
