Considered to be the new lady of Brazilian black music, singer, performer, dancer, writer, theater actress and composer Leilah Moreno, 23, prepares for the release the third album of her career titled VIP by recording house Universal Music. Born in São José dos Campos, she began her career at nine years of age when she joined a samba group called šltima Hora (Last Minute). The band was made up entirely of her family members, which certainly helped her to feel at home on stage. But she already showed signs of independence and, at the age of 12, she put together her own band in which she sang all styles of music.

In 2003 she participated in the compilation DIVAS DO BRASIL (BRAZILIAN DIVAS) for E.M.I. PORTUGAL
The same year she was recognized in Europe as one of the 30 greatest voices of the century.
In 2003 she released the CD CENSURADO (CENSORED), the video clip VEM DAN‡AR (in conjunction) and produced the CENSURADO AO VIVO (CENSURED LIVE) concert at Playcenter park, recording a DVD to be released I the middle of Decenber 2005.
And recently she played the role of BARBARA in the movie ANTONIA de TATA AMARAL
In 2005 Leilah Moreno was hired by the Globo Television Network to play a part in the "Altas Horas" ("Late Night) program presented by Serginho Groisman.
In February of 2006 the singer Leilah Moreno was hired to take part in the Universal Music of Brazil recording team. The new cd from the artist, titled V.I.P. should be in stores throughout Brazil by the end of the first semester of 2006.
The singer and actress Leilah Moreno will be recording the new serial to take the place of Cidade dos Homens, Brasilândia, produced by the O2 production house, with Fernando Meireles, Guell Arrais, Tata Amaral. The cast will include Cindy, Negra Li, Leilah Moreno and Quelinah, both characters from the full feature film Antonia.
From 15 to 20 years of age she participated in several dance bands, but left them when, in 2001, she first participated in the presenter Raul Gils new faces in music program. She remained with the show for nine months, won fans and was introduced to the whole of Brazil. She was hired by Luar Music, where she released her first work of art, the CD Meus Segredos (My Secrets), distributed by Warner, reaching 50 thousand copies sold.
The reality of the Brazilian recording market brought her to search for a new route, so she signed a contract with the Mega Music Brasil recording house. Also responsible for the release of Tem Que Valer, debut cd of the band Kaleidoscopio, the last album of DJ and Producer Ramilson Maia, titled Ramilson Maia apresenta Drumn Bass Brasil (Ramilson Maia Presents Brazilian Brumn Bass) and the album Royal House, by producer Gui Boratto.
Young and determined, Leilah certainly has one of the most beautiful voices in Brazilian music today, but that is not enough to satisfy this restless girl, who makes a point of participating in and shaking up everything having to do with her career. She herself took care of the production of her new video-clip, influencing the visual presentation, from beginning to end. She is also involved in the production of her new website, concert negotiations and takes care of her appearance all on her own, still finding time to pursue social and cultural causes, bringing her work in equality between classes and child and adolescent rights to the public.
