Lea Herman’s vocals are earthy and angelic, universal and intimate. Some songs take you back to your childhood confidence while other bring up adult vulnerabilities. Graduating with a Bachelors degree in opera from Northwestern University, she went on to study composition with prominent Chicago-based composer, arranger, and Civic Orchestra conductor, Cliff Colnot. Three years of writing and performing led to her forming a collaboration with bass player, Milo Decruz (Duncan Sheik, Ryan Adams). The resulting debut album ("The Sign") of Herman’s original music arranged and produced by Decruz was released in February 2009.
