Born and raised in the bay area of California, in addition to growing up in a household where interest in the arts was encouraged, L.B. has always had a passion for music. At the age of 7 He was singing in the church choir. When L.B. was 9, after watching his brother and other musicians, He began playing drums at church and by the age of 14 he was teaching and directing his church choir. Because of the talent he was blessed with and the knowledge gained, he went on to lead one of the most acclaimed gospel groups in the bay area. L.B. also has had the fortunate opportunity of studying music under his pastor/mentor, Walter Hawkins and his brother, Edwin Hawkins, best known for writing and producing the groundbreaking gospel hit “Oh Happy Day”. While working with his mentor, he not only directed/taught the choir, he was also sang background for Walter Hawkins, Daryl Coley, Tramaine Hawkins and a host of other gospel greats. Ready for a change in life, L.B. uprooted and moved to Washington, DC to further his education at the world renowned Howard University where he studied film. While studying film, the desire to sing R&B continued to brew and finally, the decision to pursue music full time was birthed. With such a tall frame, standing at a bold 6’4 ½”, it would appear that this is not an artist, however, this is someone who should be playing basketball; but upon listening to the artist smooth yet raw vocals, and tight harmonies, you will quickly realize why L.B. has chosen music over the N.B.A.
