Lawst??????? Started out as Dylan Jon Wimperis, a wannabe DJ in his mother's basement in 1998. Surrounded by a bedroom full of vinyl, record player consoles, tape decks, cd players and a 1978 Tapco mixer. Eventually bought a full Dj kit and by the summer of 1999 he was St Clouds hottest house party DJ, booked up every weekend. Later Lawst was introduced to the world of production when he was loaned an original Ensoniq SQ32 keyboard from an INCREDIBLE musician known only to the public as Itchy Wilphart. He got the beats itch. By the summer of 2002 he had put together a decent bedroom production setup and started woorking with a couple local rappers. They hooked up with some other heads doing the same thing and formed "The Locals", for the next 3 years the Locals would dominate the Central MN scene as well as slowly creeeping into the MPLS scene. And then it was done, Lawst went on a hiatus. From behind the curtain he realesed 2 albums. One: he teams up with Mr. Gene Poole of the Rhymesayers Legacy and produced and rapped on "The Cauldron" (Damn Dirty Apes, 2006, SME) a full length subterrainian album that noone, not even Lawst and Gene expected. Two: he teams up with Rhimestine of St Paul and the Dopeless Hopefiends were created, after releasing their self-titled EP in 2007, they parted ways for short time. Later that year J Steel is brought in as an official Damn Dirty Ape.Today he has become the head of Simian Minds Ent. a full service entertainment company offering Artist representation, show booking and promotion, production/recording, backup DJ'ing as well as event/party mobile DJ service. He is a Producer, DJ, engineer, writer, lyricist, booking agent, promoter, graphic designer, and the maintnence man."Hey Mon". Lawst is a Member of numerous hip-hop crews and plays various roles throughout the process. Lawst has produced beats and tracks for a variety of artists, in many locations. Homebased in St Cloud, MN, just one hour NW of the Twin Cities, you can find Lawst and the SME family at different bars, clubs and venues around MN, and other out of state locations in the near future. The streets have been spread with the Simian Minds Sampler as they are in the process of finishing the next Damn Dirty Apes album, the Dopeless Hopefiends Album should hopefully drop next year, and lookout for Bronko's debut album this spring. As well as Lawst's production with other artists. Keep an eye on my page and youll have the latest updates in shows and new tracks.
