La Sarita

La Sarita was formed in Lima, Peru circa 1998, by Julio Perez and Martin Choy. La Sarita's name comes from the blessed "Sarita Colonia" a symbol of popular faith. La Sarita has 2 independent albums "Mas Poder" released in 1999 & "Danza la Raza" in 2003. La Sarita's sound is alternative hard rock fused with latin flavor, peruvian folkloric music and afroperuvian sounds. La Sarita have a huge underground following in Latin America. La Sarita's lyrics are about social injustice & issues, urban drama, political corruption, destruction of our enviroment and ecosystems, pretty much about everyday life in South and Central American countries, however, they also have songs with a festive mood and positive outlooks with messages of hope for a better world. the music can be at times hard and in your face, other times is very much fun with lots of melody. La Sarita's talent have taken them to other countries like Finnland where they broke the language barrier and rocked the finnish vikings, they played a rock festival in Salvador Bahia, Brazil, they have participated in "Rock En El Parque 2000" in Colombia, they have also played in Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador and all over Peru. La Sarita have shared the stage with international bands like Molotov, Enanitos Verdes, Todos Tus Muertos, Aterciopelados, Manu Chau, Los Prisioneros, La Cuca, Los Pericos, just to name a few. El nombre de La Sarita proviene de la santa beata "Sarita Colonia" un simbolo de fe popular. La Sarita tiene 2 albumnes independientes "Mas Poder" 1999 y "Danza la Raza" 2003. El sonido de La Sarita es rock duro alternativo fusionado con sonido latino, musica folklorica peruana y musica afroperuana. La Sarita tiene una ola de seguidores subterraneos por todo Latino America. Los temas de La Sarita se refieren a la injusticia social, a la corrupcion politica, la destruccion del medio ambiente y ecosystemas, historias de la vida cotidiana en paises de Centro y Sur America, pero tambien hay temas de pachanga y fiesta, temas positivos con mucha melodia y mensajes de esperanza por un mundo mejor. la musica puede ser en un momento bien fuerte y en tu cara otros momentos muy pachanguera con mucha melodia. El talento de La Sarita los ha llevado a otros paises como Finlandia donde rompieron la barrera del lenguaje y rockearon a los vikingos Finlandeses, tambien han tocado en el festival de rock en Salvador Bahia, Brazil, tambien participaron en "Rock En El Parque 2000" en Colombia, tambien han tocado en Venezuela, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador y por todo Peru. La Sarita ha compartido el escenario con bandas internacionales como, Molotov, Enanitos Verdes, Todos Tus Muertos, Aterciopelados, Manu Chau, Los Prisioneros, La Cuca, Los Pericos, para mencionar algunos.
