Song writer, and Musician JaWaan "LaRue" was born in Seattle, Washington on April 1st. He began his musical venture at the early age of 14 doing High School talent shows, pep assemblies, and local city festivals with a group called "The Elimentz". After graduating high school he joined the U.S. Army to avoid street trouble and make something of his life. LaRue ended up serving 8 yrs in the Army including one deployment overseas from February 2004 to February 2005 during Iraqi freedom. While deployed he recorded an album titled "Hard Headed" that never was released.
After returning home he teamed up with super producers Rising Son, and Marcus D along with DJ Kruk & White Mike to form an alliance called "City of Dreams Entertainment". After releasing his first single off the album I Can Only Be Me, City Of Dreams began receiving tons of media attention in the Northwest region. The song began receiving spins on radio stations such as: Kube 93.3 FM, Kexp Street Sounds 90.3 FM, KBCS 91.3 FM, Zulu Radio, and made several appearances on the popular public access show "Hip Hop 101 T.V.". He's done numerous of shows up and down the west coast with names such as NeYo, Del the Funky Homosapien, Souls of Mischeif, Aplus, One Below, Mr. Lif and many more.
His style has been quoted to be, "Grown and Sexy but Street". This young man has touched many people with songs such as: "Rise Up" describing the struggle of African Americans and the equality of all people. "I'm A soldier" explaining his War experience in words that paint a picture for all walks of life to understand. His music is the future and it's clear to see he's got a gift.
In 2010 he released his Sophomore album titled "Saturn Returns" based off the astrological phenomenon which describes the influence of a person's life development at the age of 27 to 29 or 30-year intervals. These intervals or "returns" coincide with the approximate time it takes the planet Saturn to make one orbit around the sun, i.e. 28½ years. It is believed by astrologers that, as Saturn "returns" to the degree in its orbit occupied at the time of birth, a person crosses over a major threshold and enters the next stage of life. With the first Saturn return, a person leaves youth behind and enters adulthood. With the second return, maturity. And with the third and usually final return, a person enters wise old age. These periods are estimated to occur at roughly the ages of 27-30, 58-60, 86-88 and so on. LaRue takes you on a roller coaster ride of 14 tracks describing his rocky and unstable life. He jumps from topics such as fatherhood, fantasy, and temptation over high powered production by Rising Son and Marcus D. "Saturn Returns" is available on Itunes.com, Amazon.com, Rhapsody.com and more. Keep a look out for his next project with Conscious Minds Records.
