Hello, my name is lanky. No, it's not my real name, it's my MONIKER! I write songs. I sing them too. Here's a little story about a boy named Francis Lancaster.I was born in NYC. My Mom from the Bronx and my Dad from Brooklyn. After a few years of marital bliss they moved the family to a rural part of Northern New Jersey. I grew up with cows and farms and pick up trucks. Later I moved closer to NYC. I rocked it out in a few bands, aspiring for the record contract and riches and fame. One day my head and heart decided to go in another direction. So me and my guitar made our way into the world of troubadouring (I don't know if that word exists). I made some recordings in my basement on an eight track tape machine. I dubbed the project 'lanky' and would soon form a band. The songs turned out good and were released on a small indie called Imposter. I started touring to promote the cd. Two weeks turned into four weeks turned into another eight. And then another tour and then another and another. My plans to form a band never materialized. Solo show after solo show would help create my next release, Last Chance for a First Impression. It was a postcard from the road. Recorded live at shows, it was a collection of new songs I was writing while touring. A song called 'Lovesick' would stand the test of time out of the batch. it's one people still want to hear and luckily one I still love to play.180 to 200 shows a year continued through the release of a third cd called Odd Hour Work Week. A tongue-in-cheek title for the life I was living.Back to the here and now. I just landed my feet in Nashville after about two years of toying with the idea. The songs I recorded over the summer are about to see the light of day. And I have finally started building that band.Stay tuned.

“Lanky’s lyrics are at once introspective and broad as he explores truth in a complicated and ugly world. He has a supple voice that reaches beautifully into falsetto at times, while his guitar chimes out hooky patterns. The… tunes are reminiscent of John Mayer, and Sting with a dose of Jeff Buckley, but the album has an irresistible innocence and longing that is distinctly Lanky’s own.” - Abby White, Performing Songwriter

“I’ve heard enough solo acoustic troubadours in clubs to be bored with them. It’s an especially sweet accident, then, to stumble across something so stripped down, yet so engaging. ‘Lovesick’ is an undeniable gem, catching the ear immediatelyand digging in to stay.” - The Big Takeover

“Lanky is a Jersey guy with a comfortable voice, thoughtful lyrics and a nice power-pop approach to the guitar.” - Washington Post

“A great batch of folk-based singer/songwriter musings loaded with Duncan Sheik-worthy hooks, Beck-like cleverness, the sensitivity of John Mayer and a Nada Surf brightness that

translates into one of those classic releases you’ll go back to again and again.” - Aquarian Weekly

”The layers are seemingly endless, from the simplicity of the acoustic guitar strums to the complexity of electric guitars and keyboards playing an atmospheric game of cat and mouse. To top it all off, [Lanky’s] voice is astoundingly smooth, making it remarkably easy to digest lyrics that are sometimes tinged with angst and bitterness. As a result, the album can be both dark and bright, always tugging at your heartstrings and leaving you wanting more.” – Rockpile

"[Lanky's] upcoming full-length CD, 'Odd Hour Work Week', would be a welcome addition to any scene's body of work. At his best, you are reminded of his hero Pete Townshend, albeit with an acoustic guitar." --John Lomax, Houston Press

“…honest, warm, sunshine-.lled pop-rock with beautiful vocals and a rustic, Americana touch to the acoustic based pop.” – In Music We Trust
