Her name is LALEH

Possibly Sweden's most well kept musical secret. Laleh purposely honed her craft over the years and though she has so far not released her music to the outside world, her perspective on music is truly international.

Laleh built her initial reputation as a vivid stage performer delivering her self penned Swedish language songs steeped in a popular folklore tradition many thought would never be embraced by young artists again. Coupled with her own brand of English language songwriting which effortlessly bridged the divide between underground and mainstream. To fully manifest the Laleh-experience the debut album would also highlight her origin in the mysterious "der yek Goshe" where Farsi is introduced as her third language.

Having early on set her mind not to compromise her artistic output, establishing Lost Army as her own production imprint, Laleh was magnificently able to shape her own fortunes. Writing, performing, recording, producing on her own in her studio, we were invited to Laleh's world where we could all have a better life ridding ourselves of the pressures of the daily grind in something close to a new age manifest. Taking a stand on truly human issues many of Laleh's lyrics would resonate on a basic human scale with her audience - or rather as she likes to explain her own position - its important not to have a "them" and "us" perspective as a performer.

It might not be too far fetched to imagine that this attitude in times of perfected performers is part of the secret behind the success that has already seen Laleh achieve Platinum sales numbers, top the Swedish album chart as well as bring home several Swedish Grammis (Swedish Grammy) for Artist of the year, Newcomer and Producer) and Rockbjorn awards. Her single "Live Tomorrow" carries the rare destinction of being the longest running hit ever on Swedish public service radio P3 Charts.

2009 sees the release of the third domestic album "Me and Simon". Once again Laleh opens up her melting pot of influences as she continues to mix styles and languages into something very personal. Always aiming to push her own envelope she takes the Swedish language title to full Orchestral arrangements as she worked with The London Symphony Orchestra for this track written specially for the historical blockbuster movie "Arn". As the lead single "Simon Says" currently enjoys heavy rotation on radio as well as ZTV and MTV Nordic, Laleh has just embarked on her most challenging venture so far as she brings a brand new band on an extensive Swedish tour which will eventually take her a string of summer festivals.

This is where Laleh is now - this is where you are invited to create your own image of what this truly multi faceted musician - singer-songwriter-composer-producer-performer is all about.
